Gone Fishin'

I'm not actively blogging here anymore. But if you got here because you were searching for something about bikes, you might want to check out my latest project, Vermont Goldsprints. In summer of 2014, I bought a used goldsprints racing setup and have made it a mission to get more bikes in more people's faces by putting on fun races in unexpected places. Come join me!

Como Lake

This Sunday Kate and Alyssa and I headed out to Como Lake, at Alyssa's suggestion. Three miles of rolling singletrack leads to a waterfall that spills into the lake. We rode out there, then poked our way back unil we got to a decent swimming spot. The lake was a perfect temperature and there were only 10 or so powerboats and two or three jetskis on the lake, so it seemed fairly quiet to me for Independence Day weekend.

Kate and Alyssa in the water.

Looking up the lake from our swimming spot. This may be the first time I've ever been swimming in a place where you could be in the water and be looking up at snow in the mountains at the same time.

Kate. There were minnows in the lake that would nibble on you a bit, but not so hard that it hurt, just like they were bumping into you and checking you out.

The falls empties into the lake.

Kate negotiates the trail. There were some sections that were pretty bumpy and each of us fell off our bikes at least once during the trip. Nothing major, just your typical slow motion front-wheel-stops-and-body-keeps-going-into-the-bushes falls.Posted by Picasa
